NPTEL AI Solver ("the extension") reads multiple-choice questions on NPTEL Swayam assignment pages and uses Google's Gemini API, called with the user's own API key, to obtain suggested answers. The user reviews and submits answers themselves. This policy explains what data the extension handles.

The extension requires you to provide your own free Google Gemini API key, entered once in the extension popup. This key is stored locally in your browser's extension storage. It is never sent to us or to any server we operate, and it is never transmitted anywhere except directly to Google's Gemini API to authenticate your own requests.

We do not collect, store, or sell personal information. The extension does not require an account with us, and does not collect names, email addresses, credentials, location, or browsing history.

When you click Solve, the question text and answer options on the current assignment page are sent directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API, using your own API key, to generate suggested answers. This is website content, used only for that purpose. Preview mode only displays what was extracted on your screen and sends nothing.

Requests go directly from the extension to Google's Gemini API over HTTPS, authenticated with your own key. There is no intermediary server, proxy, or backend operated by us in this data path.

The extension stores your Gemini API key and simple display preferences (such as theme) locally in your browser's extension storage. This data is never transmitted to us and stays on your device unless you clear it.

We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside the approved use case; we do not use or transfer data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose; and we do not use or transfer data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

This extension is designed to comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The extension does not load or execute remotely hosted code. All code is included in the extension package.

The extension is for learning and experimentation. Using it on graded assignments may violate NPTEL/Swayam academic integrity policies. AI answers can be wrong, so always verify before submitting. Users are responsible for how they use it.

The extension does not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change and continued use means acceptance.
